What is a Ghost?

Everyone in the field of Parapsychology, Paranormal Investigation & Ghost Hunting all have their thoughts on what a ghost is. It is important to remember that no one has the  the complete answer and all we can offer is our opinion. We  believe that there are several types of hauntings and that each have there own explanation.

Residual Haunting - It is believed that this type of haunting has nothing to do with Ghosts/Spirits but more to do with the absorption of energy into structures. To explain this is simplest form use smell as an example if you smoke in a room for a period of time the room will continue to smell like smoke even if no one has smoked in the room for months. This is because the smoke gets absorbed into the walls, floors and furniture. Another example you can try yourself: Cut up some onions and put them into a sealed plastic container, let sit in the refrigerator overnight. The next day throw away the onions and try and clean the container, you will notice that no matter how hard you clean the container it will smell like onions for an extended period of time. This is because the onion leaves behind traces that get absorbed into the container and can linger for a long time. We believe that energy works the same way. When a person spends a lot of time in a room they expel energy and it can get absorbed into surrounding. In time that energy may show itself like a film strip and may appear to be a haunting even thought it is not.

Poltergeist Phenomena - Is also not believed to be caused by Ghosts/Spirits but caused by Psychokinesis as mentioned on previous pages. Poltergeist activity includes moving objects and usually do not last for long periods of time. This activity can be cause by a person who is under large amounts of stress and sometime reported around teenage girls. Still some people believe that Poltergeist phenomena are cause by spirits.

Spirit Haunting
- Considered to be the hardest haunting to investigate and prove. This type of haunting is believed to be caused by a human spirit who has died and either does not realize that they are dead or are not ready to cross over. The personality of a person remains the same as when they were alive but they can become jealous and depressed watching the ones they love go on without them or they refuse to let go of earthly pleasures. A spirit can linger for long periods of time and sometimes manifest through energy. This can take form of cold spots, high Electro Magnetic Fields and sometimes communication through Psychic or other means (such as Electro Voice Phenomena). Occasionally an apparition can appear.

We investigate all 3 types of Hauntings. None of these types of hauntings have been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.
